Winter Weather Advisory

In an abundance of caution and anticipation of the upcoming weather event, Mangum Electric crews have spent the last few days prepping the generators at the power plant.  Please know that if we lose the power supply coming into town it can take up to an hour to start generating.  If the cause is in town, the repairs must be made before power can be restored, this can take several hours depending on the severity of the issue.  Our crews are monitoring the situation and will work to get the power back on as quickly and safely as possible.

When the power does come on, please turn off or unplug anything that is not essential to keeping you warm and safe, the power plant has a limit to the amount of power it can produce.  It can produce about 90% of our normal winter requirement, that being said, please try to avoid doing laundry, especially using an electric dryer or other high wattage appliances.

While debilitating winter storms are out of the ordinary, we are doing our best to be ready and limit the time you may be out of power.  Please have blankets ready and battery powered lamps or flashlights, keep your phones charged up over the weekend so you have plenty of power to get you through any potential outages.  Stay inside, stay safe, and stay warm!
